Connemara Cask Strength Irish Whiskey
Bottled at full cask strength, Connemara Cask Strength Peated Single Malt Irish Whiskey offers a light and fruity nose with a distinct smoky and peaty aroma. Featuring a silky smooth and honey sweet start, malt and fruits give way to the intense full-bodied peat with vanilla oak tones. Golden honey notes are prevalent on the palate followed by an extraordinary peat explosion. Ireland’s only peated single malt, Connemara’s whiskies are best described as “Islay meets Ireland” as they retain the smooth and sweet taste of Irish whiskey with the smoky taste associated with Islay Malt whiskies. Inspired by Ireland’s ancient distilling tradition of drying malting barley over peat fires, Connemara’s smooth, sweet malt taste and complex peat flavors make it a truly unique Irish whiskey. For centuries, peat (or turf as it is known locally) was widely used in Ireland to dry cereal crops and to fire the stills. Over the last century this tradition was lost until it was revived it to produce world-famous Connemara Single Malt. Opened back in 1757, the Old Kilbeggan Distillery is the oldest licensed whiskey distillery in Ireland.
